Police rescue victims after raiding a kidnapper's hideout in Kano
The spokesperson for the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, announced this in a statement on Friday, October 10, 2025. The initial operation was initiated following the escape of a 21-year-old victim, Abdul Hamid Bello, who sought assistance from bystanders after fleeing from his captors.
Bello subsequently guided the police team to the suspected kidnappers' hideout in Saya-Saya, Ikara Local Government, Kaduna State, where another victim was liberated.
Additionally, the command rescued a 19-year-old individual who had been abducted in Rogo LGA of Kano on October 5, 2025.
"The Kano State Police Command is delighted to share the successful rescue of two kidnapping victims and the retrieval of evidence across two distinct operations. These successes illustrate the Command's dedication to fighting kidnapping and preserving the safety of citizens and their property in the State," the statement noted.
"In the initial operation on October 7, 2025, following guidance from the Commissioner of Police, the Command's Anti-Kidnapping Squad, alongside the Surveillance Team from the Divisional Police Headquarters in Bebeji, executed a precise rescue operation based on credible intelligence concerning an escaped victim.
"The victim, Abdul Hamid Bello, a 21-year-old male, had been abducted and subjected to harsh treatment by his captors, but managed to escape and sought help from nearby individuals.
"He later directed the police team to the suspected kidnapping stronghold in Saya-Saya, Ikara Local Government, Kaduna State, where another victim, Musa Idris, a 65-year-old male, was freed.
"The kidnappers fled upon detecting the police presence, abandoning a motorcycle and a rope, which were seized as evidence. Both rescued victims have been reunited with their family members for medical care.
"Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, has mandated that the rescued individuals receive prompt medical attention. The Command is diligently working to capture the perpetrators and ensure they face justice, as the CP emphasized that there is no sanctuary for criminals in Kano State.
"The Kano State Police Command commends the dedication of the officers involved in these missions and appreciates the public's support in supplying vital information that led to these accomplishments.
"We encourage the good citizens of Kano State to continue practicing personal safety and report any suspicious behavior to the nearest Police Station.
