Graham Potter has been fired as Chelsea manager

Graham Potter has been fired as Chelsea manager after a largely unimpressive reign. The decision comes after the Blues were defeated 2-0 in the Premier League by Aston Villa on Saturday, April 1.

In September, the 47-year-old moved from the Amex Stadium to Stamford Bridge to replace Thomas Tuchel, and five of his Brighton and Hove Albion teammates followed him to the Cobham training ground.

Potter, who signed a five-year contract with Chelsea, has had a promising start to his career, going nine games unbeaten.

The Englishman would then lead the Blues to just two wins in nine games after losing 4-1 to his former club. Potter was quickly put under immense pressure to turn around the club's fortunes, but with his back against the wall, he struggled to do so.

According to a club statement: "Graham Potter has left Chelsea FC, the club has announced. Graham has agreed to work with the Club to ensure a smooth transition. Graham has led the club to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid. Chelsea wishes Graham the best of luck in the future and thanks him for all of his efforts and contributions."

'On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea,' said co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali. We hold Graham in the highest regard as a coach and as a person. He has always acted professionally and with integrity, and we are all disappointed with the outcome.

'Along with our incredible fans, we will all rally behind Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games left and a Champions League quarter final to look forward to. We will put everything we have into each of those games in order to finish the season on a high note.'

Unfortunately, the news about Potter does not surprise Chelsea fans, who have been skeptical of his future for some time.

According to the information we got , Julian Nagelsmann is the favorite to replace the now-departed Potter. Luis Enrique is also among the early favorites to be named the next permanent Blues head coach, but who replaces the Englishman remains to be seen.
